About Dr. Abruzzese

Dr. Constance Abruzzese is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York (022195) and Pennsylvania (PS020186) and can treat clients in all 40 PSYPACT states (20844). Prior to founding CEA Psychology, Dr. Abruzzese was a nationally certified school psychologist, an Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University where she taught courses in assessment and supervision. As the Co-Director of Training at the Columbia Day Program, Dr. Abruzzese supervised clinicians-in-training at Columbia Medical Center and created the curriculum for evidence-based groups in anxiety, depression, and OCD. She has received years of intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Dr. Abruzzese’s research has focused on factors that lead to the development of PTSD. She received specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), DBT PE, Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation - Narrative Story Telling (STAIR-NST), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Dr. Abruzzese previously led trainings and provided consultation to school districts in New York and Connecticut implementing CBT and DBT programs. She also led trainings through the Columbia School of Social Work for seasoned mental health clinicians obtaining continuing education credits. She was the Coordinator of OCD and Related Disorders at a large group private practice where she co-created and ran OCD Intensive treatment programs and supervised psychology graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. She has specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). In addition to OCD, trauma, and PTSD, her other specialties include the treatment of anxiety, depression, executive functioning challenges, relationship issues, and life transitions. Therapeutically, she aims to balance genuine warmth with insight and change.
